Learn Excel – VBA Picture Comments: Podcast #1386

April 19, 2011 at 2:38 pm

One of the old tricks in Microsoft Excel is adding a pop-up picture to a cell. I showed this a long time ago on an episode of TechTV. The VBA code that I used back in Excel 2003 to add the pop-up pictures is no longer working in Excel 2010. Today, with Episode #1386, Bill shows us how to update the code for use in Microsoft Excel 2010. You will find an example of the modified code below.

Sub AddPictureToComments1()
' Bill Jelen
    For Each cell In Range("F3:F5")
        cell.AddComment
        cell.Comment.Text Text:=""
        cell.Comment.Visible = True
        cell.Comment.Shape.Select
        Selection.ShapeRange.Fill.UserPicture "C:\aaa\" & cell.Value & ".jpg"
        cell.Select
        cell.Comment.Visible = False
    Next
End Sub
